The Mid-Atlantic Sports Nework's second channel -- MASN2 -- will go full-time in high-definition in 2010, allowing the broadcast of every Nationals and Orioles game in high-definition. That's up from about half of each team's games last season.
A MASN spokesperson told NationalsPride that so far, Comcast, Cox and DirecTV and several other smaller cable systems in the coverage area have agreed to carry MASN2HD.
A deal has not yet been reached to show the new channel on Verizon FiOS. Dish Network -- which doesn't carry MASN's main HD channel -- has not signed on to MASN2HD either. The network is said to be "hopeful" for a deal with each by Opening Day.
Though still only an overflow channel, MASN2HD enables the network to air a Nationals game and an Orioles game (or their pre-game and postgame shows) concurrently. There are 130 dates next season where the broadcasts would overlap.
The network's full statement is available here.
The news was original broken last week by MASN's Nationals color commentator, Rob Dibble, in a post to his Twitter account.

When MASN's full-time high-definition channel launches on April 1, Comcast subscribers around Washington will be able to find it on channel 247. So says a report on DCRTV.com.
It's a decent position -- between the NFL Network HD and Starz HD, only two spots below Universal Sports, ComcastSportsNet, ESPN, ESPN2, and Versus Golf. If I was MASN, I'd have been hoping for a spot as close to ESPN as possible, ideally inside the cluster of sports channels, so this isn't a bad outcome.
MASNHD will air 104 regular-season Nationals games this season, up from the 40 aired in high-definition on its part-time co-opted HD channel last year.
The first Nationals' game to appear in HD on the network will be on April 4 in an exhibition matchup with the Orioles at Nationals Park. The Nats' first regular season appearance will be on April 7 agains the Marlins.
