Wallpaper Wednesday - Vote Zimm

We do our best to keep politics off the site here (turning a blind eye to the team's adoption of RED as its primary color), but the campaign being waged by the Nationals and some of their fans to get Ryan Zimmerman elected to the All-Star game on the "final ballot" seemed to create some cover for a little political action.

After flirting with the idea of a Shepard Fairey-esque "ZIMM" poster (think Barack Obama and "HOPE"), we retreated to neutral political ground to offer a non-partisan campaign poster for Zimmerman's All-Star bid.

And yes, font nerds, I did use the same font used during the Obama campaign for the primary typeface here.

Obama to throw first pitch at All-Star Game

President Obama will throw out the first pitch at the MLB All-Star Game in St. Louis on July 14, the White House announced a few minutes ago.

This will be his first ceremonial first pitch as President.

President Obama was invited by several teams, including the Nationals, to throw out the first pitch at their home openers. It was widely expected he would opt to perform the tradition at the home of his beloved Chicago White Sox, but a trip aboard prevented it from happening.

Anonymous sources that told local news media that President Obama would throw the first pitch at Nationals Park this year proved false.
